Public Works Department

The Public Works Department oversees the Sanitation, Street and Shop departments, employing an average of 23 full time employees. The approximate annual budget for the combined departments is $1,000,000. The following information provides a brief outline of the services provided.

SANITATION

Provides twice weekly residential garbage pick up
Distributes boxes of 50 trash bags twice a year to residents
Provides once weekly residential brush and trash pickup at curb
Commercial brush and trash pickup available at request and is billed according to volume
Chip site operated by city and available for use by all city residents and contractors working in the city limits free of charge
Commercial garbage pickup is contracted out to private hauler and billed according to volume and number of times serviced per week

STREET

Oversees all street development within the city limits
Maintains all streets, ditches and storm drains
Mows and maintains city lots
Maintains and oversees operation of flood pumps
Sweeps all city streets weekly

SHOP

Performs maintenance on all city equipment
